The goal is to enable flexible, efficient, and scalable use of these resources. Virtualization transforms physical components into virtual environments. For example, a single physical server can host several isolated <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/firstcolo.blackpeppers.de\/glossar\/virtuelle-maschine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">virtual machines<\/a> (VMs)<\/strong>. Each of these virtual machines has its own operating systems, applications, and configurations. This allows companies to optimize their IT infrastructure and significantly increase resource utilization.     <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-466c1ce4 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"466c1ce4\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d78f737 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"d78f737\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Types of Virtualization<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6fb35609 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6fb35609\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>There are various forms of virtualization, depending on the type of abstracted resources:<\/p><ol><li><a href=\"https:\/\/firstcolo.blackpeppers.de\/glossar\/server-virtualisierung\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Server virtualization<\/strong><\/a>:<br>Multiple virtual servers run on a single physical machine. This reduces hardware costs while increasing reliability. <\/li><li><strong>Desktop virtualization<\/strong>:<br>Users access personalized desktop environments via a central server, which simplifies management and security.<\/li><li><strong>Network virtualization<\/strong>:<br>Software divides network infrastructures into multiple logical networks, increasing flexibility and security. <\/li><li><strong>Storage virtualization<\/strong>:<br>Multiple physical storage devices are combined into a single, centrally managed storage resource, improving scalability and performance. <\/li><li><strong>Software virtualization<\/strong>:<br>Applications are decoupled from the underlying hardware, allowing them to run independently of the operating system or platform. <\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-b1fbeb4 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"b1fbeb4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Virtualization Software<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1a42037 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1a42037\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Virtualization is implemented using specialized <strong>virtualization software<\/strong>, also known as a <a href=\"https:\/\/firstcolo.blackpeppers.de\/glossar\/hypervisor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hypervisor<\/a> or <strong>Virtual Machine Monitor (VMM)<\/strong>. There are two main types:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Type 1 Hypervisor (Bare Metal):<\/strong> Runs directly on the hardware without an underlying operating system, enabling higher performance and efficiency. Examples include <strong>VMware ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, KVM, and <a href=\"https:\/\/firstcolo.blackpeppers.de\/en\/service\/proxmox-ve\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Proxmox VE<\/a><\/strong>, an open-source solution that supports both virtualization and container technologies. <\/li><li><strong>Type 2 Hypervisor (Hosted):<\/strong> Installed on an existing operating system and uses its resources for virtualization.
